Crossfit for Beginners Review




Hi everyone! Its been 2 weeks since we started Crossfit Training and I would just like to share my experience to you guys.

As I told you on my last post here, I told you that I am using Kayla Itsines Program since January 2016. I thought I was at my fittest because I can do so many plyometrics (jumping), push ups, jump squats, and so many more that I thought I cannot do. But again, my arms which is one of my goals to be more muscular never really happened.

My goal for my arms this year

Actually, I just told my husband that I want to join him for the trial class so that I can know whats out there. I am very happy with my 'work out at home' situation because I am more productive.  But he told me that I should join him for a whole month so that I can achieve my dream abs and arms. LOL!
He also said that we will make it more as a lifestyle so that our fitness will be for our whole lifetime. 

I am very hesitant with his proposal but I don't want to back out because it makes me feel like a loser. 2 days prior to our crossfit training, I researched about it and I was scared with this article.

I explained to him about the soreness, the waterweight and the diet that was in the article but he refuses to listen and he said we better try it out first.







So we went and it was a killer workout. Didn't I told you that I thought I was at my fittest? Well, I was wrong. My body was shocked with the experience.

15 Ring rows (2 sets with TIME)
15 Kettlebelle squats

50 jumping ropes (4 sets no TIME)
15 burpees
15 push ups

10 thrusters (3 sets with TIME)
10 box jump

That is a sample of our program. I thought it was easy because it is just like Kayla Itsines Program.




But at a crossfit gym, you have pressure for TIME. You have to follow the rules. You have to have proper movements. You CANNOT STOP FOR A LONG TIME TO REST. When I was in my house, I can rest for 5 minutes to catch my breath. That's a little bit of cheating because in Kayla's, you should stop for only a minute and I take my time to rest. Specially if there's a nice show on TV. The weights are also in KILOS! OMG, here in the house I just do lbs. in my dumbbells and kettlebells. 
In the gym , I get the 15 kilos the circle black one, I don't know the name and 8 kilos in the kettlebell. They are the lightest out there. 

In crossfit, someone is watching you,and telling you to do the proper movement. There are times, that I want to give up! Like duh! But as I am looking around, some are chubby, a mom in her 40's is fitter than me, hubby is working his ass out, they did not give up and doing their best, so I think, I can do it too!

That is one of the positive things in a Crossfit gym it pushes me to my limit, even though sometimes I wanna passout or shout or give up.


Alright, on our first day, hubby was so sore for 3 days because he did not do any weight training since February. That's about 3-4 months of no training. I was sore too but not the same as him. But given that he was lifting 25 kilos so his arm muscles was shocked of course. So we came back after 2 days. On our second training day, he still felt sore! It was such an incredible workout. So we came back again after 2 days. On the 3rd time, our muscles got used to the training but still I have soreness after. I have to take a power nap for 15 minutes so I can work or take care of my kids and cook. 



What I did not like at first is that the waking up so early. I usually wake up around 8 am with Heather by my side. So I wake up early now 6 am. I do not like waking up that early because it is one of the benefits of having a business and a semi-housewife but I have to. It took me 3 days to get used to waking up that early.

THIS IS THE RING ROW. I THOUGHT IT LOOK RELATIVELY EASY BUT IT WAS HARD WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE STRENGTH IN YOUR ARMS.

Right now, I don't take pictures a lot because I am in no pressure just like in our vacation in Bohol. I just worked my ass out and continue this healthy lifestyle. But when I was taking a shot in our mirror, I was happy with my result. I have smaller waist and fitter quads (thighs) and my arms looks toned but I still have a long way to go. Maybe a year to get my goals. I am also not that strict into my diet anymore. I am just being more mindful with my diet now, specially on the serving sizes. I still eat the fast food but not regularly. Life is all about balance. I think it will make us crazy if we are being so strict into our diet.



One of the TIPS that I want to share about crossfit

1. Have an OPEN MIND.

2. Have proper Nutrition specially  breakfast.
I usually drink 1 Herbalife Shake. Depends on the flavor that I like.
(Strawberry, Mango, Avocado, Chocolate, Banana, Vanilla)

3. Soreness really happens. It may take a while to get used to, I am still getting used to it but I keep on fighting till it never makes me sore anymore.

4. Don't be intimidated on the weights. It will not make you look like a man. For women, it will take a while to look like a man. It is just a myth. It would take time, super heavy weights and lots of supplements to look like the one you are scared of. Using weight training will help you tone up and lose fat faster than just cardio.

5. Have proper rest. Because stress Hormones makes you hungry and you tend to eat a lot. That is what is happening to me. Heather sleeps at 12 am and I wake up at 6 am so I think my stress hormones maybe up after crossfit. I get HANGRY. But I really make it a point to eat healthier choices and still no rice.

6. Take Pictures so you can motivate yourself and stick to your goals. Same outfit, same light in the same room,  and same POSE. Sometimes when you wanna give up, just check on the pictures and why you started and the changes that it gave in your body. You can be your own motivation.
